The iconic Chrysler Town & Country minivan might be a symbol of safety, but it and several other Chrysler vehicles are being recalled because debris in engines could cause them to fail.

Certain 2012 Chrysler Town & Country, Chrysler 200, Dodge Charger, Dodge Durango, Dodge Grand Caravan, Dodge Journey and Jeep Grand Cherokee models with 3.6-liter engines could experience engine seizure because of connecting rod bearing failure, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Engine seizure could increase the risk of a crash.

Chrysler says it will place defective engines free of charge.

The automaker says it will notify owners if their cars are subject to the recall, but drivers can also check by entering their vehicle identification number on Chrysler’s website.

Owners with questions can also call Chrysler at 1-800-853-140 and get more information from the NHTSA at 1-888-327-423.
