'Splinter Cell: Blacklist' Collector's Edition Includes R/C Plane and Graphic Novel

This article is more than 10 years old.

Last year, "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" set the bar for insanely large Collector's Editions with the release of the "Care Package" edition that included a remote-controlled Dragonfire drone. Apparently, remote-controlled things are "a thing" now, as Ubisoft has revealed the Collector's Edition for "Splinter Cell: Blacklist" will feature an R/C Paladin airplane. The airplane will be the same as that featured in Sam Fisher's latest adventure.

R/C planes are all well and good, but what caught my eye was the inclusion of the 88-page graphic novel, written by Nathan Edmonson. Edmonson was pegged to write the graphic novel when Ubisoft discovered his on-going series, "The Activity," published by Image Comics. For those unfamiliar, "The Activity" is a realistic (well, other than their amazing tech) military series that feels like a blend of "Mission: Impossible" and, well, "Splinter Cell." Thus making Edmonson a natural fit for the novel, which will cover the events between "Splinter Cell: Convinction" and "Splinter Cell: Blacklist."

The CE will also include a poster and several digital items such as a two co-op maps and a handful of in-game items.

"Splinter Cell: Blacklist" is set to release August, 20, 2013, and the graphic novel should be released around the same time. The fancypants Collector's Edition will be sold for $169.99, though no word on how much the graphic novel will cost on its own. If you head over to IGN, you can learn how you can possibly get your hands on a signed version of the Collector's Edition.
