The 30 Most Incredible Customized PCs of 2014

Following
This article is more than 9 years old.

If you follow my articles regularly, you'll likely have seen one of my monthly roundups of crazy PCs. Their owners come from all walks of life and from all over the globe; carpenters, metalworkers and even 3D printer experts have all applied their unique skills to modifying their PCs

We're not talking about simple paint jobs or adding a fan here and there either. These PCs look like something out of futuristic movies and certainly not something you could buy in your local Best Buy store either.

Not that you'd be able to. The hardware inside is very often super high-end, but the time and effort involved in making these awesome, beautiful works of art, which usually runs into months, if not years means they're priceless.

Many don't just stop at your average tower PC design either. Some take on entirely new forms, exposing their innards in an inside-out take on a PC, while others don't have a case at all and have been merged with a desk, sporting a glass top to show off the amazing hardware inside.

Of course, PCs do get hot, especially high-end gaming machines and many of these amazing PCs aren't air-cooled but water-cooled too. In much the same way as a car radiator cools the engine, a water-cooled PC uses a pump, coolant and radiator to deal with the heat generated by the processor and graphics cards.

There's plenty of money involved too. For example, PC case manufacturer Cooler Master is currently holding a PC modding competition with prizes totaling $20,000. You can check it out here.

Meanwhile, I've already created a gallery of The 20 of the most amazing PCs ever, however that only looked at PCs made up to and including 2013. Last year saw dozens more incredible projects so here are 30 of my favorite PC mods from 2014.
