Black Friday By The Numbers [Infographic]

This article is more than 9 years old.

These days, Americans have little time to digest all the turkey, sweet potato and cranberry sauce from their Thanksgiving feasts. After the food comes the shopping, and the country's most lucrative trading day  - Black Friday. Last year, 141 million Americans shopped over the Thanksgiving weekend, up from 139 million in 2012.

A quarter of shoppers were in stores by 8pm on Thanksgiving night and sales amounted to $413 per person - $61.4 billion in total. Black Friday keeps getting bigger and bigger. Back in 2005, total sales amounted to just under $27 billion.
