Facebook Versus Twitter In Numbers [Infographic]

This article is more than 9 years old.

How do Facebook and Twitter, the world's two most popular social networks, measure up? 10 years on from its founding, Facebook is a force to be reckoned with, boasting 1.3 billion monthly active users and $2.9 billion in revenue.

Twitter hasn't fared too badly either. Though it can't compete with Facebook's massive user-base or its mountain of cash, the micro-blogging platform still has an impressive 271 million active users per month with $312 million in revenue.

Interestingly, Twitter's top three accounts and Facebook's top three are completely different. Katy Perry (54 million followers), Justin Bieber (52.4 million followers) and Barack Obama (43.4 million followers) are top of the Twittersphere. Over on Facebook, the top three have a much larger following, led by Shakira with 102.3 million. Cristiano Ronaldo is in second place with 94.7 million while Eminem comes third with 93 million.

86 percent of time spent on Twitter comes from mobile compared to Facbook's 68 percent. In 2014, there are about 350,000 tweets and 382,000 Facebook likes every minute.
