America's Boom Towns For College Graduates [Infographic]

This article is more than 9 years old.

Which American cities are attracting the most college graduates? Traditionally, young people were often drawn to metropolises and financial powerhouses like New York and Washington D.C. These days, however, many are chosing to move to smaller places that are more challenging economically.

Take Buffalo, New York as a prime example. Despite the fact that almost 30 percent of people are living below the poverty line, the city still experienced a 34 percent change in the number of college graduates living there from 2000 to 2012. Houston, Nashville and Denver are also flourishing college graduate boom towns with percentage increases of 50, 48 and 47 percent respectively.
