Best- And Worst-Performing Cloud Computing Stocks September 15th To 19th And Year-To-Date

The highest performing cloud computing stocks year-to-date when measured by share price gains are Zendesk (NYSE:ZEN) up 68.65% or $9.22 per share since its IPO earlier this year, NetScout Systems (NASDAQ:NTCT) up 54.61%, Facebook (NASDAQ: FB) up 42.56%, F5 Networks (NASDAQ: FFIV) up 37.4%, Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) up 34.16%, and Akamai (NASDAQ: AKAM) up 32.2%.  A $10K investment in Zendesk shares at IPO are now worth $16,865, leading all companies in the index.

Enterprise software companies IBM, Microsoft, Oracle and SAP are also included in the index.  Microsoft’s share price YTD is up 27.02% with a $10K investment made on January 2nd worth $13,055 as of market close Friday.  Oracle (NYSE:ORCL) is up 4.03% for the year, delivering $10,613 on $10K invested on January 2nd.

Worst performing year-to-date are BrightCove (NASDAQ: BCOV) down 57.64%, Barracuda Networks (NYSE:CUDA) down 35.26%, Cornerstone OnDemand (NASDAQ:CSOD) down 29.87%, Zynga (NASDAQ: ZNGA) down 19.74% and Informatica (NASDAQ:INFA) down 19.71%.

I used The Cloud Times 100 and the First Trust ISE Index together as the basis of the index, selecting 54 companies all of which are publically traded.  The latest edition of the Cloud Computing Index is shown here.  The filter applied to these companies is that 50% or more of their revenues are generated from cloud-based applications, infrastructure and service
