Chart: The Cities Where You're Most Likely To Meet A Millionaire

This article is more than 9 years old.

If you want to meet millionaires, go to Europe. According to a study conducted by Spears magazine and wealth consultancy company WealthInsight, you're most likely to cross paths with a millionaire in the tiny city-state of Monaco. Well known throughout the world as a playground for the rich and famous, nearly a third of the principality's 37,000 population are millionaires.

Not too far away, Switzerland is another hotspot for the super rich. The thriving financial centers of Zurich and Geneva have the second and third highest densities of millionaires worldwide with 27.3 and 17.9 percent respectively. The gap between the top three and the remaining seven is considerable - North America's most millionaire dense city, New York, comes fourth with 4.63 percent while Germany's financial powerhouse, Frankfurt, rounds off the top five with 3.9 percent. In this case, a millionaire is defined as someone holding net assets of $1 million or more excluding their primary residences.
