Chopard Superfast Watches: Inspired By Auto Racing, Worn By Champions

This article is more than 9 years old.

Romain Dumas is quite possibly the best driver of the toughest international car races in modern history.

The French racing champion has won the 24 Hours of Nürburgring Endurance Race, the American Le Mans Series, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and, last month, the prestigious Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado Springs, Colo.

So it’s only fitting Chopard would want to sponsor him. And it makes sense that his winning history would serve as inspiration for the watches in Chopard’s Superfast Collection, which is designed to evoke elite racing machines. Just look at the dial that echoes the cooling fins of the engine or the numbers and hands that mimic speedometers—even the rubber straps of the watches in this line are pressed with the treads of racing tires.

The collection includes three variations—the 41mm Superfast Automatic, the 43mm Superfast Power Control and the 43mm Superfast Chrono—which come in steel or rose gold cases and which are the first of their kind to house movements designed, developed and assembled entirely in-house at Chopard’s workshops in Fleurier. They each offers a range of functions including chronographs, tachymeters and small seconds—and with a considerable power reserve. Just like Dumas.

Prices start around $10,000. Click through the slideshow to learn more.
