Lenovo Launches New QHD Yoga Pro 2 Tablet With Built-In Projector

Lenovo has launched a new Yoga Pro 2 tablet that features a built-in projector and 8 watt sound system today.

The headline feature is the tablet’s built-in Pico projector, which can project a 16:9 50-inch high-resolution image on to any surface. This is coupled with an 8 watt sound system and a mini subwoofer for bass.

The downside is that the tablet will only give you three hours playback in this mode, so keep your charger handy if you're planning on watching anything directed by Peter Jackson.

Lenovo argues that it included a projector because consumers are moving towards larger - but mobile - screens. Lenovo’s own research found that 88% of US users are consuming most of their content via a tablet at home, and more than half watch TV “several times a week” on their tablet.

The idea that consumers are adopting bigger screens in large numbers dovetails with research from Adobe last month that showed that browsing and usage of smaller devices (4-inches or less) has dropped 11% year-on-year.

The tablet itself has some decent specifications, including; a 13-inch QHD screen, 8MP rear camera, expandable memory, LTE and 15 hours battery life when used for regular tablet functions. And, as with previous models, the tablet will come equipped with the now traditional Yoga stand.

The new tablet is one of three new devices launched at a central London event today, including a new laptop - the Yoga Pro 3 and affordable tablet, the Yoga Tablet 2.

The Yoga Pro 2 will be available this month, with the 32GB model starting at $499.99.
