We're living in a world of mobile apps. They've become so ubiquitous in our everyday lives that we rarely pause to look at the impressive numbers behind them. In 2014, app downloads are expected to top 179 billion. By 2017, this is going to rise to over almost 270 billion.
Games account for 20 percent of apps downloaded from the Apple App store but when it comes to reach, Facebook is way out in front. In September 2013, it was accessed by 74.1 percent of the mobile audience in the United States. Back in the second quarter of 2012, 102 million users accessed Facebook exclusively through their mobile devices. Two years later, this had grown to a whopping 399 million.
