Just In Time For Summer Motorcycle Fun: Ducati's New Monster 821

This article is more than 9 years old.

Looking for something fast and powerful but also easy for casual summer rides? Have a look at Ducati’s new 821 Monster, the latest version of its flagship Monster line and a mid-sized sportbike that stays true to the brand’s Italian heritage without getting complicated in the process.

At 395 pounds, this Monster is six pounds lighter than the 1200 and 1200 S models that have sold so well lately, but its 112 horsepower and 65.9 pound-feet of torque (versus 145 hp and 92 lb-ft to the 1200s) still provide plenty of energy for quick acceleration and powerful cornering.

The bike comes with Ducati’s famous 821 Testastretta 11 engine and a clear LCD display panel mounted on the front. It’s also versatile, with eight different traction control settings, three antilock brake settings and three sensitivity settings for the throttle. Not to mention the height-adjustable seat.

Pricing starts at $10,995, and it goes on sale in July.
