25 Companies Hiring The Most Tech Talent Right Now

This article is more than 10 years old.

It's a good time to be a tech professional.

Last month, Forbes reported on The Companies Hiring Most Right Now, and found that many of the listed job openings required data analysis or information technology backgrounds. To get a sense of which companies currently have the most job openings for tech professionals, Forbes consulted with employment search site Indeed.com.

The companies listed here had the site's greatest number of postings for tech jobs in the U.S. that pay $60,000 per year or more, as of April 4th. The jobs listed fall under the classification of Computer and Mathematical occupations, and include titles like "software and web developer," "database administrator," and "IT systems analyst," as well as other jobs associated with computers.

“The variation in types of businesses hiring tech talent reflects the demand for IT skills across industries," says Tara Sinclair, economist at Indeed.com. "Qualified candidates are highly sought-after, and as a result, are afforded a rich diversity of potential employers to choose from.”

Indeed.com specifies that the picture offered does not reflect a precise number of available jobs. An opening can be listed in more than one place and can remain online for some time after it’s filled. Nevertheless, the numbers do offer a strong, broad gauge of the companies with the most open tech jobs across the country today.

Leading the search for tech talent is Amazon, which also ranked third on Forbes' list of the companies hiring the most overall. The Seattle-based e-commerce giant is hiring 1,784 tech professionals with titles including Machine Learning Specialist, Software Development Engineer, and Senior Programmer Writer.

Coming in second is Lockheed Martin . The Maryland-based aerospace and defense company has 1,568 tech jobs open across the country, including Systems Administrator, Senior Network Engineer, and Programmer Analyst - JAVA and Oracle .

Not all the companies on the list have a central digital tech or web focus. Coming in eighth is JPMorgan Chase , with automaker General Motors following close behind in 13th, apparel retailer Chico's FAS at 14th, and PwC in 18th.

“The list includes American blue-chip technology brands such as Amazon, IBM, and HP alongside defense contractors such as Northrop Grumman and General Dynamics, and consulting services like Booz Allen Hamilton and PwC," says Sinclair.
