It's A Landslide: Axion Power

Following
This article is more than 10 years old.

It's official, the next stock I'll research will be Axion Power International, Inc. (OTC:AXPW).

The chart to the right, summarizing the results of my reader poll, actually understates groundswell for Axion: two of the four write-in suggestions were for Axion as well, giving it 89 out fo 115 votes, or 77% of the total.

The result was a surprise to me, but it shouldn't have been:  Many of my readers have been shared with my friend John Petersen, Esq., whose articles debunking the economics of electric vehicles in general and Tesla (NASD:TSLA) in particular brought many readers to my website AltEnergyStocks.com from 2008 through 2012.  On Seeking Alpha, his articles were consistently popular, far more so than my own were or are likely to be any time soon.

Recently, John is serving as legal counsel for ePower Engine Systems, a company that's using Axion's PbC batteries in a series hybrid drive for Class 8 Trucks and, he adds, "getting tremendous results."  But he hasn't been writing, and obviously his fans are feeling his absence.

I plan to be in touch with John further as I research this article, but don't expect an EV-trashing, Axion-promoting JP knock-off.  While I consider John a friend, we don't always agree, even on EVs.  That said, Axion's stock is looking mighty beaten up right now, and if there is one thing I can't resist, it's a stock with green technology trading well below its intrinsic value.

Now "all" I have to do is put a number on that intrinsic value.  I'll get started tomorrow.

Disclosure: No position in the companies mentioned, but I may initiate a position in Axion Power in the course of researching the article, if I like what I find.
