2015 Emmy Awards Red Carpet: The Best-Dressed Celebrities

This article is more than 8 years old.

This year’s Emmys red carpet was dominated by off-the-shoulder necklines, with Gina Rodriguez (in a glittering white gown with a low-cut sweetheart neckline by Lorena Sarbu) Amy Schumer (in a blue Zac Posen with a detailed neckline) and Sarah Paulson (in a custom black-and-navy piece by Prabal Gurung paired with Brian Atwood shoes) among the many who opted for the strapless silhouette.

But the trend did not apply to the runway’s best dressed.

While Jaimie Alexander wowed in a multicolored sequined Armani Privé gown with long sleeves, Tatiana Maslany slayed in a plunging white pantsuit by Bouchra Jarrar. Julie Bowen looked elegant in a sleek black gown with an asymmetric neckline by Georges Chakra, and Kerry Washington embraced her inner “gladiator” in a mesh, three-quarter-sleeve silver dress by Marc Jacobs. Meanwhile Taraji P. Henson flaunted her sartorial chops in a black custom Alexander Wang gown with a lace skirt and chain straps—an edgy detail echoed by Claire Danes’ sequined cabernet-and-navy Prada piece.

Other metallic showstoppers include Cat Deeley in a beaded Monique Lhuillier, which featured a plunging neckline and showed off her burgeoning baby bump; Sofia Vergara in a gilded, mermaid-style Saint John made of Italian gold lamé jacquard and 64,000 Swarovski crystals, paired with Lorraine Schwartz jewels; and Christina Hendricks in a long-sleeved, brown-and-gold sequined gown by Naeem Khan.

A handful of actresses appeared pretty in pink: Jane Krakowski wore a satin pastel dress by Bibhu Mohapatra; Elisabeth Moss donned a bright magenta Oscar de la Renta gown (paired with Brian Atwood shoes); Joanne Froggatt wore a blushing pink gown with cutouts by J. Mendel; and Uzo Aduba chose a halter-neck pink dress splattered with navy by Jonathan Cohen. Meanwhile Scream Queens star Emma Roberts looked smashing in a pastel Jenny Packham gown and Giuseppe Zanotti heels, paired with a Lee Savage clutch and Martin Katz jewelry.

January Jones, Laverne Cox, and Padma Lakshmi all stood out from the crowd in vibrant hues. While the Mad Men star stunned in an emerald green one-piece by Ulyana Sergeenko (featuring a sweetheart neckline, wide-leg pants and a gold starfish pin), the Orange is the New Black actress awed in a sexy teal Calvin Klein dress with cutouts paired with sky-high yellow heels by Stuart Weitzman, and the Top Chef host showed off her curves in a silky citrine gown by Romona Keveza.

By far the most surprising look belonged to Lady Gaga who, channeling Grace Kelly, arrived uncharacteristically toned down in a gorgeous black one-shoulder Brandon Maxwell number. Julia Louis-Dreyfus showcased a similar look in an elegant Safiyaa gown accented with a Chopard cuff and earrings.

Sleek bobs also ruled the runway, with Jaimie Alexander, Sarah Hyland, Taraji P. Henson, and Louise Roe among those who sported shortened tresses.

As for the men, host Andy Samberg looked dapper in a black geometric print two-button dinner jacket with a formal trouser by  Giorgio Armani , alongside David Oyewolo who modeled a three-piece black tuxedo by Dolce & Gabbana accented with an arrow lapel pin. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Titus Burgess charmed onlookers in a forest-green Bonobos jacket paired with a floral bowtie, while Joe Manganiello appeared effortlessly handsome sporting a messy gelled hairdo and a classic single-button black tuxedo.
