This article is more than 7 years old.

New data from the U.S. Census Bureau has revealed that five of America's eleven fastest-growing cities are in Texas. Georgetown, Texas, recorded the largest population increase of any city nationwide (with 50,000 or more inhabitants) between July 1, 2014 and July 1, 2015 with its population rising 7.8 percent. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area, along with Pflugerville, which also saw a noticeable population increase of 4.5 percent, placing it eleventh overall. The other booming cities in Texas were New Braunfels, Frisco and Pearland.

According to the Census Bureau, Ankeny, Iowa, is the only one of the 15 fastest-growing cities outside the South or West. New York remains the most populous city in the country and it added 55,000 more people to its population between July 1, 2014 and July 1, 2015.
