No. 9 Jessica Jones: A Superhero...With Problems...Without A Cape
How about super hero whose actually grown up, more or less? No costumes, no secret indentities, just a young woman struggling with her own demons. Living in squalor, hitting the bottle, and yes, doing the nasty, while the roaches look on. That’s what the always captivating Krysten Ritter gives us in this title role.
Adding a gender spin to the Raymond Chandler trope of the besotted detective, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg has created a Philip Marlowe for this side of the Millennium. Imagine if Jane from Breaking Bad could lift a car and you kind of get the idea. JJ's got a life, if not one you necessarily envy. Sexy, gritty, snarky and just plain fun, Marvel’s Jessica Jones is a comic book for people who don’t read comic books and that’s not meant as faint praise. I’ll take mine hard-boiled please.
