LeBron James Snags A Buyer For His Florida Home

This article is more than 8 years old.

After  less than a year on the market, basketball star LeBron James has found a buyer for his Miami home. The 16,700-square-foot home is currently under contract, sources tell Forbes, though they would disclose neither the purchase price nor the buyer's name.

The waterfront estate at 3590 Crystal View Court boasts a six-bedroom home with eight full baths and one half-bath, as well as a guesthouse. It also has an infinity pool, and docking available for two 60-foot yachts. James put the home on the market last year after he left the Miami Heat to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The listing agent was Tomi Rose, of Opulence International Realty’s Sports & Entertainment Division, which specializes in real estate for athletes. Rose also represented L.A. Lakers player Carlos Boozer, whose home was across the street from James' (it sold in 2010 for $5.5 million).

The basketball legend purchased the mansion in Miami's Coconut Grove neighborhood for $9 million in November 2010. He first listed it in October 2014 for $17 million, then later dropped the price to $15 million, the listing price at the time of the sale.

Coconut Grove has been home to celebrities including Madonna and Sylvester Stallone, but is generally not considered as prestigious as or in demand as a Miami Beach address. But compared to the home of another basketball great (who shares the same jersey number), James' home sold relatively quickly.

Michael Jordan's mansion in Chicago's Highland Park was first listed in February 2012 for $29 million. The price later dropped the price to $21 million, then went to auction and failed to sell. Now listed for with Mauricio Umansky and athlete specialist Kofi Nartey, both of Los Angeles-based luxury firm The Agency, the asking price is $14.855 million (Note: the numbers in that price tag add up to Jordan's long-time jersey number, 23, which James now uses at the Cavaliers).
