Tinder Just Rolled Out Verified Accounts For The Rich And Famous

This article is more than 8 years old.

Following in the footsteps of Twitter and Facebook, Tinder is rolling out verified accounts for celebrities. Now, just like on Twitter, verified users will be marked with a blue check.

"Starting today, you may see a verified symbol on some profiles. Now when notable public figures, celebrities and athletes appear in your recommendations, you’ll know it’s for real," reads the Tinder Blog.

As Tinder grown in popularity—the dating app now boasts that some 26 million matches per day—some big names are joining the ranks of users swiping left and right in their search for love. For instance, (a pre-Mila Kunis) Ashton Kutcher, Lindsay Lohan, Hillary Duff and Jamie Kennedy are all rumored to be on Tinder.

Apparently though, celebrities have a hard time finding matches on the platform because other users are slow to accept that they are indeed who they say they are. The new verification system is intended to solve this problem and hopefully users will stop accidentally swiping left on the rich and the famous.

Tinder has not yet explained exactly how the verification process will work.
