Chelsea Clinton Shares Her Thoughts On Coffee for President's Day

This article is more than 8 years old.

What does Chelsea Clinton have to do with coffee? Surprisingly, she knows a fair amount through her work with the Clinton Foundation and its philanthropic work with Haitian coffee grows. On President’s Day (February 15), Chelsea Clinton is the guest of Birch Coffee’s Stay Regular video series.

Clinton sat down with Jeremy, half of the duo behind New York City’s Birch Coffee, to discuss her relationship with coffee (I won’t spoil it and share which coffee brand she started her love affair.), her thoughts about the fair trade movement and how the Clinton Foundation works with Haitian farmers and coffee growers pre-earthquake and post.

“Something I admit I didn’t know until we got involved in Haiti is that at the beginning of the 20th century, half of the coffee consumed in the United States came from Haiti,” Clinton says in the video interview. “Haiti was the major exporter of coffee to the U.S. market.”

Clinton continues her interview, discussing what fair trade means to the coffee export market, over a cup of coffee. Her full interview marks the beginning of the third season and will air at 8 a.m. on President’s Day (February 15) on Birch’s website.

Birch’s video series has included mostly entrepreneurs and allows viewers to get a glimpse into the lives of individuals when they’re not in a coffee shop enjoying coffee.
