Justin Bieber Just Broke One Of The Beatles' Most Impressive Records

This article is more than 8 years old.

Justin Bieber may not be as beloved as The Beatles by critics, and he surely won’t end up holding the same place in history, but he has now bested one of the world’s most beloved groups in at least one territory. This week, Bieber has a record-breaking seventeen songs listed on the Hot 100, the all-encompassing register that ranks the one hundred most popular songs in the country. Before this week, The Beatles had held the record, which was fourteen tracks in one week, for decades. Earlier this year, Drake matched the Fab Four’s accomplishment, though he was not able to surpass them.

Except for his Jack Ü (the moniker under which super producers Skrillex and Diplo release music together) surprise hit “Where Are U Now”, all of Bieber’s songs on the chart are from his new album, Purpose, which has already turned out to be quite the comeback for the singer. The record just recently became his sixth to top the Billboard 200, putting him in rare company in musical history. Purpose sold more than twice the number of copies industry sources initially thought it would, and it beat out fellow teen mainstays One Direction, which placed at number two with over one hundred thousand copies fewer than Bieber.

The count is led by “Sorry”, which is currently sitting at number two for its second week. The upbeat dance track debuted in the runner up position a few weeks ago (behind Adele’s “Hello”, which currently still owns the chart), and since then it has bounced around the top five, though never quite breaking through to the coveted number one position—though the pop star did finally hit that mark earlier this year with lead single “What Do You Mean?”, which was his first to do so.

Here are the seventeen songs that Bieber has on the Hot 100 (and their positions):

"Sorry” - number 2

"Love Yourself” - number 4

"What Do You Mean?" - number 5

"I'll Show You" - number 19

"The Feeling (ft. Halsey)” - number 31

"Where Are U Now" (Skrillex & Diplo featuring Bieber) - number 34

"Mark My Words" - number 42

"Purpose" - number 43

"No Pressure (ft. Big Sean)" - number 49

"Company” - number 53

"No Sense (ft. Travi$ Scott)" - number 54

"Life Is Worth Living" - number 67

"Children" - number 74

"Been You" - number 81

"We Are (ft. Nas)” - number 88

"Get Used to Me" - number 90

"Trust" - number 98
