EPA Study Of Fracking's Impact On Drinking Water: Two Charts On The Power Of The Fracking Boom [Infographic]

This article is more than 8 years old.

Earlier this year, Forbes Southwest Bureau Chief Christopher Helman posted an in-depth look at how fracking had completely changed the US energy industry -- and where the industry might be headed next, based on a series of exclusive interviews with Harold Hamm, chairman of Continental Resources, and one of the most influential people in the energy business. Hamm sees the rise in fracking across states like Texas, Colorado, Pennsylvania and North Dakota as part of "Cowboyistan" a new energy power which has fast become a rival to OPEC nations and other petrogiants like Russia.

In light of the EPA Study released today that found little impact on America's water supply by the practice of fracking, it's worth taking another look at two of the graphics in Helman's story, which show the rise in oil and gas production, and how it's changed America's position in the global energy market.
