'Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3' Is Having Some Big Issues On PC

This article is more than 8 years old.

A number of players are seeking refunds today for the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops III.

So far, I've only played the game on PS4 and it's been running without a hitch, online and offline in both single-player and multiplayer.

On PC, things seem to be another matter entirely, and the game is getting a disappointing "Mixed" user review score on Steam. I have yet to try the version out, but I hope to soon.

Lousy framerates appear to be the biggest problem PC gamers are facing. Freezing, lag, inaccessible muliplayer, black screens and crashes also seem to be plaguing PC gamers, as well as the occasional blue screen of death.

Admittedly, there are more Positive than Negative reviews up on Steam at the moment, and many PC gamers are reporting on reddit and elsewhere that the game is running just fine for them.

If that's the case, it could be an issue with drivers or some other configuration problem at the root of this.

But really, it's hard to pin down the culprit is at this point, and it may be that a patch will smooth things out. Hopefully this isn't another Batman: Arkham Knight situation. Honestly, it's too early to say one way or another.

Other players are reportedly having a difficult time joining a match across both PC and consoles. I haven't encountered this problem at all on PS4, where joining games has been extremely smooth and easy.

We'll keep an eye on things, and if you're having issues or hear about any potential work-arounds, feel free to shout out in the comments.

I'm also reaching out to Activision to see if they have any comment on the PC performance issues.
