Konami Pulling 'PT' From PlayStation Store, 'Silent Hills' Fate Uncertain [Updated]

This article is more than 8 years old.

Update 4/27/15: It's official. Konami has cancelled the game.

Konami is pulling the wonderfully scary and creative "PT" demo from the PlayStation store following news that developer Hideo Kojima will be departing the company later this year.

The demo was a very subtle and frightening teaser for a new "Silent Hills" game starring Walking Dead star Norman Reedus. And it was brilliant.

It's not looking good for Silent Hills, it would appear, a game that Kojima claimed would make you...lose control of various bodily functions it was bound to be so frightening.

Admittedly, the demo was pretty scary. And the Silent Hill games were among the creepiest I've ever played.

According to reports, Guillermo del Toro, who was co-producing the game with Kojima, has said "It's not gonna happen" which, if correct, puts the nail in the game's proverbial coffin.

What a shame. Scary games are hard enough to come by. It's too bad the PT demo isn't staying up at the very least. Everyone should play that while they still can.

Gamers have until April 29th to give it a shot. It's free, and only available on PS4.

As a side note, it's always possible Konami is simply assembling a new team sans Kojima (and apparently del Toro) to develop this. Or it may be on indefinite hold.

I've reached out to Konami to see if they can clear anything up.
