Who do Oscar winners praise the most in their acceptance speeches? When it comes to dishing out the thanks, it isn't God who comes first but a god of directing - Steven Spielberg. That's according to a study conducted by Vocativ who analyzed all 1,396 acceptance speeches ever made in advance of last night's ceremony.
Steven Spielberg has been thanked 42 times from the Oscar podium down through the years, ahead of Harvey Weinstein who was name-dropped 34 times by grateful winners. James Cameron rounds off the top three, having been thanked an impressive 28 times. God comes in sixth having been thanked 19 times, despite the fact that he’s never directed, produced or acted in a film.
