Forbes Insights in partnership with EY recently convened a meeting of its Data and Analytics Advisory Board to discuss the results of Forbes Insights research on the challenges and opportunities companies face in their journey to becoming a data and analytics-driven organization.  Below are the highlights of that meeting:

The global economy has been unforgiving to those organizations that lag in technology adoption. In the push to better compete on analytics, business leaders are looking to analytical solutions and platforms to deliver the next wave of profitability. However, the success of data analytics depends wholly on people who can link analytics to the business, as well as those with the skills and know-how to be able to take advantage of analytics.

To better understand the human implications of big data analytics within today’s enterprises, Forbes Insights conducted a survey of 410 enterprise C-level executives. The results of this research was the foundation of the discussion with our panel of leading data and analytics practitioners.

Chris Mazzei, Chief Analytics Officer at EY, discussed the challenges with becoming an analytics-driven organization. “It's not about technology, it's not about the advanced analytics skillset that are required,” he said. “It's about organization process, culture, the human element, things that we view as not talked about enough but yet critical to the actual realization of value from embedding analytics deeply into business process.”
